| From: Bent, James A SSG MIL USA FORSCOM [james.bent@us.army.mil] Sent: Wednesday, April 23, 2008 10:05 PM To: Joe; webmaster@centerstar.org Subject: 24 April 2007 weekly update Brothers, I would like to give you all a weekly update, Kind of a recap of the week if will. We received an honorable email from LTC Nugent stating that my crew is the most efficient and organized he has seen since he has been in the army. For those that don't know what I do over here, I am a multi tasker is what they call it. I take on projects others have given up or failed at, ranging from acquiring equipment to assisting I feel its more of pressuring the local contractors specifically construction work. One of the bigger projects I’m working on now is dropping coms lines. Coordination with several offices is required as back in the states before you dig with the addition of the mine action center. The big thing to remember is that this was Soviet controlled teritory. I will be losing one Soldier PFC Donaldson down to the Infantry lines to serve as a Fire Team Leader. I am confident in my descion that he will excel and make the right choices in the heat of battle. As a leader your goal is to accomplish the mission and get every man out unharmed is this realistic? no it is not but at the same time you are put in the position that you will have to chose who might live and who might not for the fight of positioning ultimately the betterment of the squad. PFV Velazquez will remain at my hip for the duration of this deployment. Sending PFC Donaldson down to the lines has sparked a lot of old memories this week some good and some that tears me up still. I am handing the Mailroom over to a SGT Boyd from 96th ASB which I think she will do a good job. I will just stop in as and perform a weekly inspection. The other night was interesting; Tobey Keith was stuck here due to weather requirements that would not allow him to fly. When he comes to theater on the USO tour he tries to do three shows a day and everyday here he spends at a new FOB or patrol base. He put on one heck of a show! A friend of mine works at the PAX terminal, so I gave him my guitar to take in and he got it signed for me. Make sure to put special thanks out there to Brother John Lowry he came up and did some work around the house last Sunday. John and Pat are kinda like grandparents to the kids and they love them as such. Well gotta go for now, Brother Bent |
